“James” by Pat Metheny - Solo Guitar Chord Melody

Last year I was fortunate to participate in an online solo guitar course with Arianna Powell. Arianna is an old friend from undergrad who went on to make it big as a guitarist in the music world, playing with Halsey, Black Eyed Peas, Olivia Rodrigo, and many more.

In this course, one of the arrangements I wrote was for Pat Metheny’s song James, written for James Taylor. It’s a beautiful tune with a bridge that trips up bebop players, per Metheny.

My arrangement can be played fingerstyle or with a pick.
